Terms of Use
Effective 2 November 2026.
These terms cover the RepoTutor website and the course files it helps you build. The site describes RepoTutor as a Saga Dog Corp project. They do not add a company address or other facts beyond what the site already shows.
The service is provided as-is
RepoTutor turns public GitHub READMEs into a SCORM 1.2 course you can download. On the website this runs in your browser. The project also includes a command-line tool you can run on your own computer. You get the service as it is and as it is available. A quiz can be wrong, a zip can fail in an LMS, and GitHub's license detection can be missing or out of date. The site and GitHub's API can be slow, rate-limited, or unavailable. There is no promise that the service will meet a particular purpose or keep working.
You need the right to use the repositories
You choose the repositories. You are responsible for having the right to use their content in a course and to redistribute that course. A repository being public is not permission to republish it. Follow each repository's license, and get permission when that license does not cover what you want to do. How generated courses credit those repositories is described on the Content rights page.
Acceptable use
Do not use RepoTutor to strip attribution. That includes removing credits, copyright notices, license terms, the per-module attribution line, or credits.html from someone else's work. Do not use it to relicense others' code or READMEs, or to present that work as yours or under a different license. When you share a course, leave the attribution the tool added in place.
- Do not use the service to reach private repositories or to bypass access controls. Private repositories are not supported.
- Do not break the law with a course you build, and do not overload GitHub's API or this site.
No warranty
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided without warranties of any kind. That includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the operator of RepoTutor is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, a course an LMS rejects, or a mistake in a license label, even if the possibility was known. Liability for a claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. The site takes no payment today, so that amount is zero. Some laws do not allow these limits. Where they do not, the limits apply only as far as they can.
Plans
Building a course from public READMEs is free. The site also shows paid options, marked coming soon. Nothing is for sale yet, and no payment is taken. If a paid option is offered later, its price and what it includes will be shown on the site before you pay.
Changes
These terms can change. A new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Using the site after that date means you accept the updated terms. There is no account, so changes are not sent by email.
